Woody Lindenmyer
Freeride Coach
Woody
Lindenmeyr, 37, grew up ski racing in Stowe,
Vermont. He competed in the USSA
Junior Olympics at the age of 15. In 1988, a college hunting trip out west led
him to Gunnison, CO, where he majored in fine art, and developed a passion for
ski mountaineering and what was then known as extreme skiing.
Over the next decade Woody honed his off-piste skiing and backcountry skills including competing in the first ever US Extreme Skiing Championships here in Crested Butte. He finished as the top local competitor in the international field and continued competing successfully in the early stages of the sport. Over the span of his career Woody has summited countless peaks in the mountains of Iceland, Alaska, Europe, the U.S., Canada and South America. He has appeared in national and international ski magazines dozens of times, as well as ski movies and television appearances. He continued his involvement in his sport as a judge for the Crested Butte freeskiing competition for six years. He has now been the head coach of the freeride program here at the C.B.A. for the last four years.
Woody is most at home and content in Crested Butte, but still loves to travel, especially for skiing. His wife Wendy , the director of the freeride program at C.B.A., and his two sons, Aksel and Devin, live on Mt. Crested Butte.
